Fathers Day at HLR
This year our monthly weekend to the resort fell on Fathers Day. Chad brought his fly rod so he could do a little fly fishing. I played photographer and snagged a few good shots - this is Chad, just doing his thing.
After an abbreviated stay at HLR, we came home Sunday afternoon, so Candice could take her Dad to the gun range for some target practice in preperation for the upcoming CHG class they will attend. Turns out Candice is quite the dead eye, according to her Dad - and the guy in the next bench. What can't she do????

What a busy week - so much happened - hitting the highlights:
- Our baby Candice, celebrated her 29th birthday on the 4th - we celebrated with her at Ra zoo's.
- I won a Moment of Truth award at work for saving the AHA $500,000. - very cool!
- Finally got the kids added to our vacation deed!
- Last night Candice and Matt hosted another backyard movie night. They showed the movie The Burbs - one of our family favorites, when the kids were young. Candice made pretzel and sardine (chocolate) appetizers for everyone, hers didn't sound oozy and slimy, the way it did in the movie, when Tom Hanks put it in his mouth. We sat out in our lawn chairs in their backyard under the stars, and ate Matt's homemade corny dogs, enjoyed the breeze, fellowship with new and old friends, and an old familiar favorite - good times!

One of our favorite dinner destinations when we are at Holly Lake is Rimas - the food is good, especially their homemade bread, the atmosphere is lovely since they are right on the lake and they have really good live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Such a great date night - after our dinner we took a leisurely drive around the lake - our way of relaxing after a busy work week.
Enjoying the breeze, good food, and the lovely music at Rimas! |

The next morning we thought we should walk off our breakfast and soak up some of the flora and fauna, so we walked the nature trail - the honeysuckle is so fragrant at the ranch, its such a pleasure to take this hike early in the morning and just inhale deeply!

Another perfect weekend at the ranch - always looking forward to the next one!

Mothers Day this year was so fun! We got to keep the boys for a sleepover Friday night. This is a picture I snapped Saturday morning on the patio after breakfast. Jack looks a little sleepy...but he slept great in his little play pen - maybe he is just putting up with the Johnny Jump Up -?
No trip to this side of the harbor is complete without a visit to the Bass Pro next door, Leo loves to watch the fish, drive the display boats, and run and squeal in the back hallway. So much fun!
I thought I had a great idea of beating the lunch crowd after church on Sunday, and having an early supper at Texas Land and Cattle - but that was a bust. Even so, I walked away with some great pictures, in spite of the less than mediocre service this trip.

Candice made me the most beautiful gift basket - full of pictures, and goodies, and a precious Mixbook of times in her life this past year- she is such a pro at gift giving!! Wish I had her talent!!
Such a lovely weekend - so thankful to be a Mom, so thankful for fun times together!!

Yesterday Candice, Jack, Leo and ME, took off to meet everyone on my side, that could meet, for an early Mothers Day lunch in Sherman. It was a nice visit, the weather was lovely, as was the company and conversation. I was able to get a few pictures; these are the highlights.

Trying to get this group shot was really funny, and this was the best out of all of the ones I tried, even though they were all so cute! It's all good!!
Happy Mothers Day to us, especially Mom, Nana the Great!
